Calvet: I’d like to help you, Johnson, but I made our position clear in my letter. Odusanya: Christine, I don’t think you realise how serious Star-Line’s position is. We can’t survive if we have nothing to sell.

Calvet: Can’t you buy stock locally?

Odusanya: Of course, but our customers come to us because we have the latest Paris fashions. They can get local jewellery anywhere. If they stop coming to us, well ... we will go out of business. I think it’s in your interest to prevent that.

Calvet: Of course we don’t want you to go out of business! But you must see that we can’t go on supplying goods that don’t get paid for.

Odusanya: Christine, Star-Line has substantial cash reserves, and as soon as we receive the necessary foreign exchange, you will be paid in full. Our only problem is that we need new stock ... now.

Calvet: Johnson, you seem to forget that you owe us nearly a million francs. And frankly, we are not prepared to do anything until the balance on your account is reduced. Odusanya: Let me get this straight. You want the balance reduced.

Calvet: Yes.

Odusanya: Not cleared.

Calvet: No-o.

Odusanya: Well, I can offer you part payment on account. Calvet: How much did you have in mind?

Odusanya: I have about $65000 in my external account. I can arrange a transfer today. Calvet: In that case, we might be able to reach an understanding .
